So is he really that unstable? A dozen Democrats (and one unnamed Republican) from the House and Senate were concerned enough to meet with an accomplished psychiatrist on the matter in December.
Yale University professor Dr. Bandy X. Lee explained the briefing to CNN in a phone interview on Thursday:
“Lawmakers were saying they have been very concerned about this, the President’s dangerousness, the dangers that his mental instability poses on the nation. They know the concern is universal among Democrats, but it really depends on Republicans, they said. Some knew of Republicans that were concerned, maybe equally concerned, but whether they would act on those concerns was their worry.”
So what did Dr. Lee say to these lawmakers?
Well, she wants to make it clear she is not in a position to diagnose Trump, as she has not sat and had a professional examination with him. The American Psychiatric Association has very clear rules about diagnosing people from afar.
What she did share was her expert opinion that an evaluation is absolutely appropriate given Trump’s outward behavior:
“Mr. Trump is showing signs of impairment that the average person could not see. He is becoming very unstable very quickly. There is a need for neuropsychiatric evaluation that would demonstrate his capacity to serve.”
What specific behavior leads her to this?
“As he is unraveling he seems to be losing his grip on reality and reverting to conspiracy theories. There are signs that he is going into attack mode when he is under stress. That means he has the potential to become impulsive and very volatile.”
We’re no doctors, but we feel like we’ve been saying that too. LOLz!
Oh, and in case you were wondering, Dr. Lee does not belong to a political party and says she is “uninterested in partisan politics.”
What do YOU think of this report??
